After more than twenty-five years, friends Lola Stamps, Xavier Cade, and Bertram Stone reconnect at the 2008 homecoming at Clark Atlanta University. Shortly afterwards, a love triangle ensues between the now middle-aged friends.

Xavier lives in Chicago. Bertram lives in Atlanta. Lola is newly divorced and lives in Atlanta, too.

She retired from the world’s largest beverage manufacturer, after nearly 30 years as a project chemist and crisis resolution manager.
